After a trip to Zion, you may wonder why we have a family picture in front of a normal chapel. Well, when we entered Utah (the kids first time) they started counting chapels. Well, we were at 96 the day before we left Katie's to return home. One hundred became the goal, and we actually drove about 20 miles past Katie's to Nephi to get to one hundred. This is a picture of us in front of the 100th chapel.
We had a great time with Katie and her family. I could not believe how big the boys were. Jeff and I bonded over Guatemala mission stories. Come to find out our mission areas kind of overlapped. Rozi went shopping with Katie and Cheryl, and Rozi bought some school clothes. Lewis was well loved by his cousins. We visited the Y while we where there. I have to admit that the school was quite impressive. I think Rozi is now fully in love, and Lewis now wants to go there.
Cheryl and I are in front of the Provo Temple. We were told that it is going to be torn down and replaced with a totally new structure.

Here the kids are in the BYU Library. It is an amazing building, and the most impressive library I have ever been in.

This monument is on top of the new church conference center. We had a great tour. We saw all the original Book of Mormon pictures. It was the first time they have ever been together. There must have been 15-20 of them. They even had the large Christ in the Americas picture. The kids compared the experience to being at the Louvre.

This statue was inside of the Church History Museum. It is of the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. It was very cool since Lewis just became a Deacon.

We spent a day in Logan visiting Cheryl's grandmother and her uncle's family. They were very nice and we had an enjoyable stay. They really made us feel welcome. Cheryl's grandmother is amazing. I hope that I am as lively and lead such a full life when I am in my 80's. She knows how to retire. Here are some picture of the Logan Temple. It is the second temple built in Utah, and I have to say that I think it is one, if not the, most beautiful temple I have ever seen.
We also visited Utah State University. This is where Cheryl went to school. We had a great time walking down memory lane with Cheryl. She was also able to get some Aggie swag. They make the best ice cream.
We had a great time in Petaluma. I swear the kids forget I exist. They only come to me to ask for money and to see when the Shuhmachers are coming over. We played games, talked, ate, ate, ate, and saw our Vallejo friends. The picture below was taken at Six Flags. We also took a boat over to Pier 39 with mom and the Schuhmachers. It was a great trip altogether.
Lewis went to scout camp for a week. He had a great time and got 5 merit badges. He now has six and beats his father who only earned three. He is very excited about scouts and is determined to get his eagle. I spent a couple days at camp. Here is a picture of Lewis doing archery. It was his first time, and he got the hang of it quickly. The scout masters are talking of doing a long backpacking trip next year instead of camp. They are excellent and well organized scout masters.
Well, that is the post for now. Hope to get the family back in the habit. Facebook just isn't the same. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks to all the family that took us in and entertained us this summer. We had such a great time that we are really sad to see it come to an end.
